Update: 16.3.2020

The Council on Hypertension of the European Society of Cardiology wish to highlight the lack of any evidence supporting harmful effect of ACE-I(Ramipril, Lisinopril, Perindopril & Enalapril) and ARB (Candesartan, Irbesartan, Losartan). in the context of the pandemic COVID - 19 outbreak.  The council of Hypertension strongly recommend that physicians and patients should continue treatment with their usual anti-hypertensive therapy because there is no clinical or scientific evidence to suggest that treatment with ACEi or ARBs should be discontinued because of the COVID-19 infection

Services available for Patients

Dear Patients

We are constantly reviewing our appointment system in order to try and offer you the most effective service.  We have recently seen a huge amount of pressure on appointments and currently are unable to offer routine appointments before the end of March.  We have looked very carefully at our current appointment system and also how we will implement certain requirements on us re "online booking" and "signposting" to appropriate healthcare professionals.

We will be implementing an amended system as from April 1st 2018 one of the key changes will be that all patients booking face to face or on the telephone will be required to provide the reception staff with a brief reason for their need to see a doctor or nurse. This will allow the staff to ensure that you are seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional. This maybe a Doctor, Nurse or our Clinical Pharmacist.  Please be assured that all of our staff are trained in confidentiality and work to a strict code of conduct. If you wish to speak privately to a receptionist we can arrange a private room rather than give your information at the desk.  Patient's booking on line will also be requested to give details of what they need to see the doctor for.  In these cases you may be called prior to your appointment if your medical need would be better managed by someone other than whom you have booked with.  Or the doctor will advise you at your consultation for future reference.

APPOINTMENTS - MORNING ONLY.  We will now only have a limited number of appointments to book via the phone or face to face at 8am on the day.  We will be offering more on line appointments which will be available to book from 6.30pm the night before for the next day.

AFTERNOON - ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS.  You will be able to book online 2 days in advance for afternoon appointments.  Telephone and face to  face bookings for routine appointments will only be available 1 week in advance, this is to reduce the level of wasted appointments for patients who do not turn up when booked too far in advance.

We also have a daily "On Call Doctor"This doctor deals solely with medical emergencies that cannot wait until the next batch of appointments are released.

You may also be offered a "hub appointment" this is an appointment out of hours from 6.30pm - 8pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 8pm Saturday & Sunday.  On some week days and Saturdays these appointments are available at Greenfield Medical Centre, if not they will be at another surgery in Barnet.  These surgeries are not staffed by our usual doctors and are for patients who wish to be seen out of hours for acute problems.  You can book this yourself by telephoning 0203 948 6809 during enhanced hours 6.30 - 8pm Monday - Friday & 8am - 8pm Saturday & Sunday or ask our receptionists.

Online Booking Please ensure that you are able to access the online services at the surgery; please do not hesitate to ask our reception team if you need any help.

Please note that failure to attend any appointment including ones booked on line will result in a warning letter from the surgery.  On line booking will be removed if you fail to attend 2 on line booked appointments in a year.  We have a 24 hour phone line that you can cancel appointments on please use this service if you are unable to attend your appointment.

Service changes please see attached link for further information: Service Changes

We hope that these changes will improve access to the surgery.  We will keep patients updated through our website and around the practice.
